Big changes will be happening at Catalyst this winter and that means another co-director is finishing up their two years to embrace the future (EVEN THOUGH SHE'S NOT REALLY ALLOWED TO LEAVE)...
.
Rachel Botha(@_rachel_botha_ ) started her time at Catalyst less than 6 months before our doors closed for the duration of lockdown, where she continued to batter away securing funding, spearheading online workshops, off site engagement projects and supporting other directors in their final exhibitions for the better part of over a year. She came back with a bang launching her director's exhibition Concealed in the Half Light in August, specifically focusing on improving the Catalyst archive and bringing it out into the gallery. Pictured here with her lovely crates, she has created a legacy that we can take with us for future boards to have. Rachel has not only shown us the importance of what the archive means to an organisation like Catalyst, but how meaningful it is record how it changes and expands with every person that takes on the challenge to keep it going.
As we pack everything up and prepare to leave 5 College Court forever with every cardboard box and roll of tape, we are putting away something that was a previous director's big idea or cherished memory (and there's also a lot of stuff that was clearly rubbish but must have been kept for sentimental value). This archive of care will be housed in the lovely crates Rachel had purpose built for us and will see many more years ahead.
We'll see you in the pub, but for now it's goodbye chick! ❤️
