The second successful candidate from our last call-out of 2019 is Tara McGinn! Welcome to the board and congratulations on your Directorship.
Tara graduated in 2015 from the Wexford IT School of Art, receiving the IT Carlow Public Collection Prize. She then founded the performance collective Beef or Salmon, and was an Artist in Residence with the Living Arts Project, until commencing the MFA at Belfast School of Art. Graduating in 2019, she received the interim Hammerschlagg Award (2018), the DAS Graduate Residency and Platform Arts Graduate Award. Her interdisciplinary practice explores narrative and fiction as a site of production for meaning through a practice of reflexive writing and lens based media, combining them using digital software with studio based sculpture research. The elements that draw her attention, undergo an application of autopsy and decoding where formats of visual communication merge and flatten to be restructured for exhibitions and printed publications.
