Aimee Magee is a visual artist specialising in sculpture & installation and currently works from Pollen Arts studios. She graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Wimbledon College of Art in 2016 part of which she also conducted studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
Aimee's practice explores an array of historical and political themes, which manifests in her choice of media. Using ready available materials such as bread and newspaper the artists plays with the symbols inherit in them, while using traditional craft methods to subvert their meaning. Plaiting and weaving newspaper she creates installations, sculptures and wearables activated in a performative context.
Since graduating Aimee has also worked on community arts projects with the Beat Carnival as a member of the Carnival Arts Steering Group and the circus.
