Dominic Thorpe is an Irish visual artist who works primarily through performance art in a range of processes and contexts. He also works with drawing, video, photography, installation, collaborative and relational based processes. Much of his recent work addresses contemporary and historical human rights and institutional abuses and he is currently receiving a Vice-Chancellors Scholarship at the University of Ulster to undertake a practice based PhD researching performance art and representations of perpetrators.

Thorpe has shown and performed work extensively in Ireland and internationally including at the Bangkok Cultural Centre, Performance Space UK, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Galway Arts Centre, SASA Gallery Adelaide and Mobius Boston. He has completed a number of residencies, including at the Nordic Arts Centre, Fire Station Artist Studios Dublin and was the first artist in resident in humanities at University College Dublin. He has received awards from the Arts Council of Ireland, Culture Ireland, CREATE and Kildare County Council. Throughout his practice he has engaged with artist run initiatives as well as inclusion and education based projects and is currently on the board of directors of Arts and Disability Ireland.  He has work in a number of public collections, including the collection of the Arts Council of Ireland.
